Choose TWO projects from the list. Complete them by the time you finish reading HP2. They will be due the day of the book test.
Social Studies - A Look at London
Harry and other Hogwarts students go to an imaginary place - Diagon Alley - in a real place - London - to buy their books and other school materials. Using maps of London, decide where you think a magical place like Diagon Alley might be located. Create your own map or use a real map and plot the location of Diagon Alley.
Drama - Learning with Lockhart
Take a page from Lockhart's book and reenact favorite scenes from that book. Check the list of Lockhart's books, create a script of a story that Gilderoy might write in his book, and be ready to possibly act out the scene in class! Limit the number of characters to three.
Writing - A Quidditch Cheer
Reread the passage describing the Quidditch match against Slytherin. Using the information you have and your imagination, create a cheer for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. You will present the cheer to the class.
Science - Speaking of Spiders
Reread the sections describing the spiders that Harry and Ron meet in the Forbidden Forest. Do some research to learn more about spiders. How many details in the book are accurate? Which ones are imaginary? Create a true/false test about spiders.
Science - Dear Diary
Tom Riddle's diary appeared to be blank because he used invisible ink. You can use vinegar or lemon juice as invisible ink. Research simple invisible inks and create a secret message for your classmates using this solution. You message should contain your favorite line or quote from the book. Your teacher will use the heat from a light bulb to bring about a chemical change and cause the ink to reappear. Please make sure you have checked to see it work before submitting it to the teacher.
Language Arts/History - Welcome to Hogwarts
Create a brochure for the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. First, discuss prospective students who would be interested in the school and different aspects of the school you wish to emphasize. Then, write, illustrate, review, design and produce your brochure.
