I think that the most important thing that the Bill of Rights gave me and my family is the freedom of speech. Without freedom of speech, I probably wouldn't be living in America right now. Before me and my mother moved here, we lived in South America. If we didn't have our rights, we wouldn't have known a word of English and my parents would have never met. Suyan Turatto ;D

Suyan, I am glad freedom gave you the opportunity to move here, too! Freedom of speech is important...it gives citizens the right to agree and disagree, even if we disagree with important people in our government. Many countries do not have to ability to speak out against their government.

Mya, I agree that the right to vote is a very important part of our Constitution. The right to vote is what gives citizens popular sovereignty--control over government. Even though we cannot make laws on a daily basis, we are allowed to vote for people who can represent our views while making laws and governing our nation.

For my family, the the thirteenth amendment is most important. Officially making slavery and involuntary servitude outlawed, opened the door for many other equal rights for american citizens.

I agree Mya. Freedom of speech is very important. Everyone should have the right to say what they need to say.
